Benson Reunion Scholarship Fund
Dear Alumnus:
The Reunion Award Fund was created by Benson graduates with monies left over from their 50th year reunions. Thanks to the alumni it continues to increase in resources and its ability to award scholarships. Since its founding in 1991, 45 scholarships have been awarded.
The money donated is transferred to The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) who invest, administer and distribute the funds. The OCF is among the top 12 largest community foundations in the nation and has an outstanding record for its rate of return on its funds.
Each year, the interest income is available for scholarship awards to graduating seniors selected by a panel of Benson teachers. The criterion is carefully assessed and the awards are based on “personal achievement, potential, and a strong desire to continue career training by attending a community college or trade school, on a full or part-time basis, in a career enhancement program.” The award monies go directly to their chosen school as tuition.
As the Reunion Scholarship Fund has grown is size, the awards have increased substantially. While 1991 saw two scholarships awarded for $250 each, 2009 saw over $4,200 awarded to three recipients.
Please show your pride in Benson Polytechnic High School by making a tax deductible donation. Checks can be mailed to:
