Like most 18-year olds, I started my adult life not knowing what I wanted to do. Tried college right after Benson, but life got in the way. It took me 5-years, but I was accepted into the University of Oregon’s School of Architecture and graduated in 2002. Most people assumed I would go directly into an internship, but fate had other ideas. In September 2003, I went back to Benson as the Architectural Drafting teacher and BATS adviser. It was only suppose to be for 1-year, but it ended up being a bit longer than that. Have you ever tried to call your former teachers by their first names or gone to bar with them? It is so weird. Due to budget cuts, I was laid off in June 2007, but that doesn’t mean they have managed to get rid of me. Now, I am an officer on the BPHSAA Board of Directors and working on the committees to keep Benson a 4-year comprehensive technical high school.
I did manage to start my internship working for a firm designing, what else, schools.
